Meet The Artist
Joe Castillo started tattooing in 2006. Before he ever touched a machine, he was painting and drawing — oil on canvas, charcoal on paper. That fine art foundation isn't a detail. It's the reason his work holds up the way it does.
His specialty is black and grey realism, with a particular focus on portraiture and horror. Faces, shadow, depth, the kind of detail that makes people look twice. He draws inspiration from some of the most respected names in realism — David Vega, Bob Tyrell, Noah, and Shine — and earned his first convention award on a portrait piece early in his career.
Joe is based in Las Vegas. Clean studio, serious work, real consultations. He doesn't rush design decisions, and he doesn't take shortcuts on execution.
